Sefano Katz
Research and Development Manager
Sefano M Katz is the Research and Development Manager at Envirotech Education, where he leads program innovation and development across the Envirotech–Coralz Group and supports a network of partner organisations and community-led initiatives across Australia and the Pacific.
His work centres on the intersection of social, ecological, and economic systems within coastal and island contexts. He focuses on the design and delivery of accredited training programs that are embedded within applied, real-world projects, integrating vocational education with participatory action research and on-Country/Sea Country implementation.
Sefano specialises in co-designing initiatives with Indigenous communities, where accredited training is positioned as a central mechanism for delivering impact. By integrating traditional ecological knowledge with contemporary science, he develops scalable, systems-based solutions for coastal resilience, marine conservation, and sustainable livelihoods—linking education directly with on-ground implementation, capacity building, and long-term stewardship.
He also supports First Nations organisations with strategic advisory services for business and organisational development, contributing to stronger governance structures, partnerships, and long-term sustainability.
Sefano works collaboratively with Indigenous organisations, government agencies, industry partners, and academic institutions to develop innovative frameworks, micro-credentials, and accredited training pathways aligned with national and regional priorities.
He is a member of the United Nations FAO Global-Hub of Indigenous Peoples’ Food Systems and the Australian Centre for Pacific Islands Research, and serves as an Official Nominator for The Earthshot Prize, contributing to regional and global efforts advancing sustainable development and environmental innovation.
